KAI KAHELE TESTS POSITIVE FOR COVID. The congressman for Kaʻū and the rest of rural Hawai'i reported on Sunday, "I am vaxxd, boosted and regularly tested, yet unfortunately after two Rapid and one PCR, all tests show I am + with a breakthrough case. I have mild symptoms and am grateful for the protection provided against serious illness that comes from being vaxxd and boosted. Stay safe everyone."
Kahele recently toured the Red Hill tunnels to underground military fuel storage on O'ahu. Accompanying U.S. Department of Defense staff members also tested positive afterward.
Hawai'i County Civil Defense reported on Sunday: "For Hawai'i County, the Department of Health reports 118 new cases with 532 active cases and four persons hospitalized.
"The entire State of Hawai'i is experiencing high rates of Coronavirus transmissions and community spread on Hawaii Island is in every community. Know that when you leave your residence, you may be exposing yourself to Coronavirus.
"Be reminded that the mandate requiring wearing of face coverings indoors continues along with gatherings of no more than 25 persons indoors and 100 persons out of doors. Distancing oneself from others outside your family group and staying home when you are sick are necessary to stop the spread.
"The Department of Health recommends getting vaccinated and getting a booster shot to protect yourself, your family, and friends."
For a comprehensive calendar and list of all pharmacies and clinics providing vaccination and testing, visit the Civil Defense website - Civil Defense: www.hawaiicounty.gov.
